Reading -  Students spend independent reading time on Achieve 3000, reading articles, completing activities, and responding to thought questions.  We are also working on reading invitations looking for who, what, when, where, time, and RSVP.   This week students will continue to work on summarizing skills while they listen to the story "Help! I'm a Prisoner in the Library."  Each day we work through the Daily 5 which includes reading to self, reading to someone, word work, writing, and technology. 




Writing - We have launched a writer's workshop in our classroom.  Students are working on publishing their Snowmen at Night stories.  After that, they will begin writing letters to their Arizona  pen pals,   In poetry students will continue to work on couplets.



Math - This week we will work begin a mini unit on collecting and interpreting data. Students work daily on  number of the day, problem solving, math writing, and I-Pad activities that support the Common Core State Standards.  On Tuesdays and Thursday students also work on multiplication facts.

Inquiry - Our next unit of inquiry will be on weather.

Writing - We have launched a writer's workshop in our classroom.  Our first writing activity is a narrative piece about what snowmen do at night (based on the book Snowmen at Night).  In poetry students finished their acrostic poems and will begin working on couplets.

Math - We are working on wrapping up our unit on fractions. Students work daily on  number of the day, problem solving, math writing, and I-Pad activities that support the Common Core State Standards.  On Tuesdays and Thursday students also work on multiplication facts.
