Reading - We are continuing to work on CAFE - comprehension, accuaracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary while we are reading in our guided reading groups. This week we worked on an accuracy strategy called "Flip the Sound."  Students practice the CAFE strategies while reading to self or reading to someone!

Writing - This week we will be learning about the parts of a letter while we write thank you letters to PTA for the Mitchell in Motion event!  

Math - In math groups we are continuing to work on adding multi-digit numbers with or without regrouping, and problem solving.  This week we will also work on adding 3 or 4 two digit numbers. 

All students will need a paper toweling tube for math a.s.a.p. Thank you!

Inquiry - We have been learning and practicing comprehension and collaboration strategies as we prepare for our first inquiry unit on government. Our focus has been on identifying non-fiction features in non-fiction books. 

Congratulations Room 101E we were awarded two FISH awards this week.  We received the Golden Paintbrush for great work habits in Art.  We also received the Principal Award for being on task and working hard during our literacy block.

Reading - We are continuing to work on and practice The Daily 5. We are practicing reading to self, reading to someone, work on writing and word work. This week we will add the 5th component of listening to reading. We are also continuing our work on CAFE - comprehension, accuaracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary when we read while we are reading in our guided reading groups.


Writing - This week we will be completing our writing assessment, a narrative piece on an exciting trip or event that students have experienced.  


Math - In math groups we are continuing to work on adding multi-digit numbers with or without regrouping. We are also working on problem solving. 

All students will need a paper toweling tube for math a.s.a.p. Thank you!


Inquiry - We have been learning and practicing comprehension and collaboration strategies as we prepare for our first inquiry unit on governament.

Reading - We are continuing to work on and practice The Daily 5. We are practicing reading to self, reading to someone, work on writing and word work. This week we will add the 5th component of listening to reading. We are also continuing our work on CAFE - comprehension, accuaracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary when we read while reading "Freckle Juice."  


Writing - We are working on choosing specific ideas when we write and staying on topic.  Next week we will be completing our fall district writing assessment.  


Math - In math groups we are continuing to work on adding single digit numbers, and multi-digit numbers with or without regrouping.  We are also working on problem solving.

Inquiry - Our first unit of inquiry will be Government. Students will learn about local, state, and federal government.   

We are continuing to implement the FISH philosophy in our classroom and school community.  Congratulations to Anika, Kyle, Sadie, and Jordan H. for memorizing and reciting the Mitchell Pledge.  Awesome job!

Reading - We are working on the Daily 5.  We are practicing reading to self, reading to someone, and word work.  We are also working on CAFE - comprehension, accuaracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary when we read.  


Writing - We wrote paragraphs about something we did over the summer.  We are working on writing complete sentences with appropriate puncuation. 


Math - In math groups we are working on adding single digit numbers, and multi-digit numbers with or without regrouping.


Inquiry - Our first unit of inquiry will be Government.  Students will learn about local, state, and federal government. 
 
We have also been busy learning about the FISH philosphy, creating classroom rules, and establishing daily routines.
