Reading -  Students spend independent reading time on Achieve 3000, reading articles, completing activities, and responding to thought questions.  We are also working on summarizing in our own words when we read a paragraph or story.   This week we learned about the word genre,   Each day we work through the Daily 5 which includes reading to self, reading to someone, word work, writing, and technology.

Writing - We have launched a writer's workshop in our classroom.  Students are working on finishing their pen pal letters.  After that we will begin writing about life inside of a snow globe based on the book The Snow Globe Family.

Math - This week we will begin working on multi-digit multiplication.  Students work daily on  number of the day, problem solving, math writing, and I-Pad activities that support the Common Core State Standards.  On Tuesdays and Thursday students also work on multiplication facts.

Inquiry - Our next unit of inquiry will be on weather.
