Reading -  Students spend independent reading time on Achieve 3000, reading articles, completing activities, and responding to thought questions.  In our reading groups we are working on analyzing characters.   This week we also worked on why readers abandon books when they read.  Each day we work through the Daily 5 which includes reading to self, reading to someone, word work, writing, and technology.

Writing - Students are working to improve their narrative writing through writer's workshop.  We continued to work on using "small moments" when we don't know what to write about.  Students have been writing true stories based on their own personal small moments.

Math - This week we worked on using multiplication to help us solve division problems.  Students make that connect by understanding fact families.  Students work daily on  number of the day, problem solving, math writing, and I-Pad activities that support the Common Core State Standards.  On Tuesdays and Thursday students also work on multiplication facts.

Inquiry - Our next unit of inquiry on weather will be coming soon.
