Reading -  Students spend independent reading time on Achieve 3000, reading articles, completing activities, and responding to thought questions.  In our reading groups we are working on "Author's Purpose."  We ask ourselves "Why did the author write this?"  "Is it to inform, entertain, or persuade?"   Each day we work through the Daily 5 which includes reading to self, reading to someone, word work, writing, and technology.

Writing/Inquiry - Students are working on completing their Scribble Press books on weather for the May 12th Inquiry Fair.

Math - This week we started exploring measurement.  Students work daily on  number of the day, problem solving, math writing, and I-Pad activities that support the Common Core State Standards.  On Tuesdays and Thursday students also work on multiplication facts.

This week has also been filled with MAP testing.  We have completed Language Usage and Reading and will be finishing math on Friday.
